>> for the time being. the truth of the matter is we'll have more fog. it is moving back in. not here in the city yet but it will be shortly. we have a dense fog advisory issued for the entire area. there is your radar. other than the fog, we're looking fine. it will be sort of a repeat of yesterday with morning cloudiness and a little afternoon sunshine. we should be dry with temperatures in the mid-70s. temperature right now at reagan national, 61 degrees. humidity, 93%. that sounds familiar. winds light out of the south and east at three miles per hour. and your forecast, did they change it? fog, mild, expecting highs in the 70s. 74degrees by 4:00 with a little sunshine this afternoon. morning clouds, afternoon sun, things will get better. back to you guys. >> thank you. our top stories, police have arrested a woman involved in a triple stabbing in northeast. it happened along rhode island avenue last night at or near

the macdonald's there. police say the victims were all female and all juveniles. they were all tape to the hospital with stab wounds. police are continuing to investigate the incident. police in fairfax are on the hunt for a jogger seen in a video captured by home surveillance cameras. officers believe he could be a suspect in the attack of a teenaged girl on monday. a man assaulted a 16-year-old who was walking home from school when she entered a pass at the end of picket road. she was able to get away. new details about a hair win bust at dulles. customs agents caught a nigeria ear yap woman with nearly five pounds of cocaine trying to pass through the airport. this is a shock and it is a record breaker. the nfl has made a statement. the northerly epps saints got

hit hard to say the least for its so-called pointy program. >> three coaches and the team's general manager all suspended and several players could follow suit too. ainsley earhart has more. >> reporter: it is a first for the national football league. commissioner roger goodell has handed down a strict set of punishments. >> we have a serious violation of an existing rule that threatens the health and welfare of our players. >> reporter: one of the teams in question is the new orleans saints. according to the league, head coach sean peyton ignored instructions from the nfl topped saints ownership to make sure bowpties weren't being paid. peyton has been suspended without pay for the next season. -- to make sure bounties weren't being paid. >> i was looking for another super bowl. i think it is unfair.

>> i think they've gone too far with t. >> reporter: greg williams has also come under fire. he now works for the st. louis rams and he has been banned indefinitely from the league. rams head coach jeff fisher says he is not surprised. >> i've had some contact with some officials in the league office with anticipating this suspension to come down over the past couple of days and the severity of the suspension does not surprise us as well. >> reporter: goodell stands behind the harsh punishment saying the player safety is a top priority. >> i don't think you can be too hard on people that put at risk our players' health and safety. >> reporter: punishment for any saint players involved has yet to be determined. the saints also lost two second round draft picks and were fined $500,000.

take several hours for it to lift and it might be mid afternoon before we see some sunshine. >> you are a beacon of light in your yellow tie. >> this is a special tie. i'll show you guys why in a bit. reports of visibility in places like annapolis, less than a quarter mile. you can see it is creeping in from the south and east. most of southern maryland now shrouded in fog. dense fog advisory again. prepare for an extra long commute and take your time if you are on some ofrural roadways. it will be a little on the low visibility side. temperatures, 61 at reagan national. 51 at patuxent naval air station where they've got fog. here is your forecast. affect sunshine, we'll wait for it.

all lanes lanes are open south on 270. here is the live shot of father hurley boulevard. this time yesterday, we cooperate see the traffic. it is better than yesterday but something to watch out for this morning. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic. etraffic. . >> thank you. making headlines this morning, police have arrested a woman involved in a triple stabbing in northeast. this happened on the 400 block of rhode island avenue last night. police say the victims were all juveniles and all females. they were taken to the hospital. a possible break in the hunt for a man who assaulted a teenaged girl in fairfax park. police released surveil and video of a map jocking down mirren pond drive around the time of the attack. a man attacked a 16-year-old who was walking home from school when she entered a path at the end of picket road. she was able to get away after a brief altercation.

>> it was pretty appalling actually. i mean this is considered to be a pretty safe neighborhood. >> i'm going to be more careful next time i go jogging for sure. >> who can blame her, right? the potential suspect described as between 18 and 27, about 5' 8", 170 pounds. he had short black hair and word a white t-shirt and black shorts. a form mount rainier police officer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and a sex offense. prosecutors say gene gillette lured a 20-year-old man to his home in capital heights. they say gillette tried to make some sexual advances. when the man refused and try to flee, gillette fired shots at him. he was twice an officer of the year in mount rainier. an update on the story we brought you last weekend on an alleged insensitive racial remark made by a fairfax

teacher. marilyn bart is now on administrative leave. the english teacher at george c. marshall high school is accused of asking the only african-american boy in her freshman english class to read a poem in a quote black are style. the school district is investigating that incident. -- in a, quote, blacker tile. the self-appointed neighborhood watch man who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in florida grew up in our area. more background on george zimmerman and we turn to melanie alnwick in the newsroom. >> reporter: the calls for his arrest growing louder by the hour. george zimmerman remain as a free man. he is a 28-year-old floridian who grew up in manassas. he lived in on sweet briar street. he moved to central florida soon after graduating from osborne high school in 2001. we spoke to former neighbors who say zimmerman once had asked him to write a letter of recommendation for the police

d.c., there will be two trayvon martin rallies. a prayer vigil tomorrow and a rally at freedom plaza on saturday. >> thank you. trayvon's parents traveled to new york city joining thousands of people to the hoody march. hundreds of people were marching across florida, miami and orlando demanding the state revoke zimmer map's gun permit. so far, more than 800,000 people have signed a petition calling for zimmerman to be charged with murder. to date, zimmerman has said nothing publicly about the deadly shooting. coming up, a drug bust at an airport not all that uncommon. a recent bust the dulles international certainly stands how the. >> wait until you hear how much heroin one woman tried to smuggle through the airport and why it could have killed her. q at lysol, , we discovered a problem.

one of the largest heroin busts at dulles. customs agents say they caught a 52-year-old nigerian woman with nearly five pounds of heroin inside her stomach trying to sneak through the airport and it is a record breaker. the most pellets and heaviest amount of ingested drug has ever seized. >> the quantity, that is what is unusual. i've been here almost 20 years in service and i've never seen here at this port, that a pellets. >> the suspect is now in custody and she will be prrd by the u.s. attorney's office out of virginia. -- she will be prosecuted by the u.s. attorney's office out of virginia.

. the police standoff in france is now in its second day. the manholed up inside an apartment building in the city of toulouse has boasted to police about killing the three jewish children and french paratroopers. we could take a live look at the scene now. this is it. police cut off electricity and gas to the building and set off loud stun grenades through the night to try to get him to surrender. he has said he wants to, quote, die with weapons in his hands. the nfl has laid down the law on the bounty gate scandal and the saints are suffering big time from this one. the league suspended saints coach sean peyton for the 2012 season. that is without pay. the team gm for eight games and the assistant coach for six games. the team will also have to for fit two second round draft

picks, one this year and another in 2013. on top of all that, they have to pay a half million dollar fine. gregg williams, you remember him from the redskins, who is now with the st. louis rams, was banned indefinitely. his status will be reviewed after the upcoming season. according to the "washington post," the nfl did not find evidence that the redskins had a bounty system when williams was with the team. more on this later when dave ross joins us to talk about this. i'm sure he is as stunned as a lot of us. coming up before that, a comment about a legendary childhood toy turning into a huge topic on the campaign trail. >> all over one of those, you can see it. candidates piling on mitt romney after someone from his own camp on a cable network station. we'll explain as we continue. >> dense fog advisory in the area.

spring time thing. tomorrow, i have to wear pink. so far this morning, the worst of the fog has been in southern maryland. if you are watching in southern maryland, look out the one owe and you'll see what i'm talking about. annapolis, visibilities reduce and down towards fredericksburg. all of that fog lifting off to the north and west and i think we'll see more inside the beltway shortly. let's do some temperatures. just like yesterday, we're comfortable. cloud cover, the fog keeping temperatures up a little bit. 61 in washington. 61 in gaithersburg. fredericksburg, good morning, you are 58 degrees. 55 in manassas. here is the deal with temperatures today. if we get any sunshine, we should be well into the 70s. maybe 75, 76 degrees. if thins stay cloudy much of the day like they did yesterday, i think we'll top out in the low 70s. i think the further west you are today, the better chance that you will see more and more sunshine. you will likely get into the 70s. sentinel sat-rad in washington, not much change. there you go, quiet conditions.

green you see is just the moisture picking up with the fog. check out this mess. this area of storminess, this cold front just moving so slowly. only progressed a couple hundred miles in the past 24 hours and continues to bring extremely heavy rain to portions of the deep south and this will get in here as we get into the daytime hours on saturday, saturday night and sunday and bring us a period of showers, maybe some thunderstorms around here by this weekend. early fog, some afternoon sun. 76 your daytime high. once again, temperatures should be nice and mild later today. partly cloudy skies, cool overnight, 59 your overnight low. not too bad and tomorrow, we think we're not going to wake up with quite as much fog and we'll be off and running with temperatures in the 80s. there is your weekend forecast. temperature cool off too behind the front. by sunday and monday, highs only in the 60s. i don't know in julie can handle that. speaking of, let's find out about the traffic and get you the latest with julie wright.

>> yeah, from 80s one day to 60s the next. i just don't know how to dress. we are dealing with a lot of fog so allow extra time out the front door. this is southbound 270 coming in from father hurley boulevard actually foggy start as you work your way out of germantown and continue out towards montgomery village avenue. lanes are open between college park and bethesda. v-d.o.t. turned the camera around for us. fog is definitely an issue in this morning's commute. allow extra time out there on the road. this is northbound i-95 coming in from lorton headed in towards newington. lanes are open but as tucker was mentioning, that fog working its way in this morning. we'll be anxious to see how much longer we can actually see some of the camera shots. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >> thank you, julie. mitt romney's campaign makes a major gaffe. the former governor of massachusetts was in maryland but his win in the illinois

primary this week is being overshadowed by a remark from his campaign chief. he said romney could pivot away from conservative principles in the general election like restarting all over again on an etch a sketch. >> reporter: with a decisive win, mitt romney took 41 out of illinois' 54 delegates and assumed the role of presumptive nominee. >> thank you for welcoming me here. i don't think i've been here before. >> reporter: romney stretched his lead in the race to 1144 delegates. he now has 563. rick santorum has 263. newt gingrich has 135 and ron paul has 50. romney is now towing progress uniting the party. he has won the endorsement of jeb bush and freedom works is now committed to helping romney defee the president. but full in louisiana, which votes saturday, got new am mission from romney's communications director who was asked if romney has been pushed too far for the right for the

general election by his primary rivals and said, quote, i think you hit a reset butt phone to the fall campaign. everything changes. it is almost like an etch a sketch. can you kind of shake it up and restart all over again. santorum tweeted a photo of himself with an etch a sketch. >> you are looking for someone who writes what they believe in in stone and stays true to what they say. >> he told fox news how the race will be reset when the nomination is clinched, not romney as policies. >> you will notice that the pictures aren't permanent. there is nothing locked down. you can redo it any time you want. >> santorum aides showed up and
